At the Lee County Domestic Animal Services in Fort Meyers, Florida, Yeti has been dealt the most heartbreaking hand. The three-year-old terrier blend was surrendered to the shelter one week ago, and now her time has nearly drawn to a close.
Sadly, Yeti had been living in a home who hoarded pets. A shelter volunteer commented:
Yeti didn’t ask to be born into chaos. She didn’t ask to live in filth, to fight for food, to flinch at every sound.
But when the humans finally came, she thought they were there to save her.
Instead, they brought her here — to fear, to cold walls, to the ticking clock of a death date.
One week. That’s all she gets
Yeti is barely more than a trembling bundle of fur curled up into the corner of her shelter cage. She presses her face hard against the concrete floor; her tongue peeks out slightly showing her intense stress and fright. Other times, she has been found hiding underneath her bed even though a soft, pink blanket had been added by a compassionate volunteer to give her a bit of comfort in her lonely dreams.

Yeti has been abandoned, and her only hope is to be fostered or adopted before her time is up at the shelter and she is quietly led down the saddest hall of no tomorrows. The shelter describes her behavior as “fear based” however she is not aggressive

Yeti has known only survival. No soft hands. No warm laps. Just fear. And now — unless someone fights for her — her story will end in a cold room, with a needle, and silence.
We’re begging you: Rescues, fosters, anyone — please step up.
Yeti doesn’t deserve to die scared and unloved. Please share her plight with friends, family, approved rescue organizations and social media contacts. Sharing saves lives.
