Volunteers at the Carson Animal Care Center in California tell the heartbreaking story of ten-year-old Angel who was surrendered to the shelter on February 24. Her family told the staff they were moving, and Angel was just yesterday’s trash. For nearly a decade, she has been neglected; her skin is raw and her eyes are infected. And just as tragic, this senior feels betrayed; she has been called the “saddest thing you will see all day.”sad Sunday dog 2

“It’s sad that after 10 years of what looks like complete neglect of a treatable and irritating skin condition, they not only gave her the name angel but they left her at the Shelter when they moved. She deserves to know real love and care and this special senior needs help now,” posted members of the Saving Carson Dogs on their Facebook page.

Click here for this senior’s PetHarbor listing. “My name is Angel and I am described as a spayed female, fawn and white Pit Bull Terrier. The shelter thinks I am about 10 years old. I have been at the shelter since Feb 24, 2017.” For more information about this animal, call Los Angeles County Animal Control – Carson at (310) 523-9566. Ask for information about animal ID number A5036102. A Facebook page for Angel can be followed here. Share her plight with approved rescue organizations, friends, family and social media contacts. Advocates continue to pledge funds to help an approved rescue with Angel’s anticipated veterinary expenses. Make sure to reference A5036102 when calling about this dog at:

  1. Please read this article about Angel, a very sweet senior and possibly the saddest dog at the shelter. Please help getting out of the shelter. In addition to a TEMPERMENT TEST, which must be requested IN PERSON, she will need a foster home, pledges and a rescue group to help her find her furever home. Let’s turn her sad face upside down to reveal a beautiful and a radiant personality.

  2. She seems like a big ole sweetheart and I’m praying she gets the love and home she deserves! I don’t get people how they can just discard what I consider a family member. Shameful. Love to the Pitt bull.

  3. Quelle tristesse, j’ai le coeur brisé pour cette âme si douce, quelle honte pour ceux qui t’on servient de maître. Je suis écoeurée.
Trouvez lui vite une vraie famille.

  4. To know any dogs story look into their eyes! Dogs are very human oriented they rely on humans for everything! The sad thing is this poor baby was abused that’s evident, but even an abused dog will forever hope for a kind word or gentle touch! To understand the dynamic is to understand the basic needs of an animal! In this case you look into her eyes and you see a heart that’s broken, a spirit crushed and confusion! I have seen dogs die from a broken heart let’s hope Angels can be repaired and her spirit revived along with her health! She deserves to be loved and live out her life happy!

  5. Poor, poor dog that is really sad and heartbreaking to see I do hope she finds a nice forever loving home she certainly deserves it,the people who had her before should be punished for not looking after her properly they don’t deserve another dog and should not be allowed to own one ever again.

  6. Dogs are very people oriented! They depend on humans for everything! To look into a dogs eyes is to see all that has happened to it! To look into Angels eyes you see abuse, heartbreak, betrayal, confusion! Dogs are imprinted onto the person who is their caretaker even if that thing abuses them! A dog will still love that abuser and hope for a kind word or gentle touch! You see it in their eyes! Angel doesn’t understand why, where or how! She only knows fear, isolation, pain! My wish is that this beautiful senior find a home where for the first time she will know love and tenderness!

    • You obviously love dogs very much!!! You write with such empathy and compassion, Kathleen!! Angel needs someone as kind as you to give her the love she has done without for most if not all of her life!!! There is so much cruelty and abuse toward animals in this country that I’m very concerned what is happening to the character of our citizens!!! I, too, hope this precious girl will find a loving home with compassionate people to take care of her!!!

  7. So many people out there do not deserve pets ! If your not going to take care of your pet then dammit don’t get one ! You don’t have a dog for ten years and not take care of it and then just dump it. In my book these people are classified as idiots, shit for brains and heartless !

  8. That poor beautiful dog deserves the safe loving home she never had – I despise people that dump their animals with the piss poor excuse of ‘moving’ – it is no more than an out and out lie. Too lazy, stupid and uncaring is the REAL reason. I truly hope there is some kind loving person who will adopt Angel – she will give them unconditional love.

  9. I would definitely take this girl in but I live in the Northwestern Pennsylvania and cannot afford to take care of her skin condition I would love ❤️ to have her join the family of 2 so dogs and 1 med dog and a cat

  10. Those people don’t deserve to Breathe!!! HOW can you dump a 10 year old dog, who has only loved you despite never being properly taken care of…I wish I lived there…..

  11. My biggest wish is one day everyone who is hurt most wonderful creatures of God, to die slowly and in agony. Nobody should leave your pet!

  12. What do we have to do to get someone at Carson to take care of
Angel’s eyes???? I would be glad to donate funds for Vet care for her
while she is waiting for a rescue to pick her up?? Please post a comment
as to what I need to do. Thank You!!
