A helpless puppy is safe today after being discovered abandoned and tied up in a sack in Hamilton, Ohio. The incident, which occurred on Wednesday at L.J. Smith Park, has sparked outrage in the community and renewed calls for responsible pet ownership.

According to reports, a park worker spotted a suspicious sack. Upon investigation, he discovered a young puppy whimpering inside. The concerned person immediately contacted animal control, who arrived on the scene and brought the puppy to Animal Friends Humane Society.

It is not known how long the puppy had been tied up in the sack; he had no water or food available. It was obvious whoever abandoned him like this left him to die.

We have been referring to the puppy as Ryder. Even though he was allegedly dumped in the park, we still legally have to abide by the three day stray hold. This means he remains in the facility for three days and can not be adopted out or sent to rescue. After the three days, he is property of the shelter and can be adopted.

The puppy, estimated to be around two to three months of age and is currently undergoing a medical evaluation at Yesterday on intake, he was not acting like a normal puppy. He was lethargic and weak. While his condition could be accounted for his traumatic experience, they also had to rule out sicknesses. He tested negative for parvo and was vaccinated and dewormed. He has been resting and regaining his strength and stability.

today, Ryder was alert, curious, and ready to eat! We appreciate everyone’s support for the little guy already and we hope to update with every step of Ryder’s journey.
