A four-month-old puppy named Alyssa Edwards is on the schedule for humane euthanasia today, May 2, 2026. The red and white Labrador retriever should be outside of her kennel today in the sunshine and playing fetch and learning how to be a great canine companion in the bright sunshine.
Alyssa arrived at the shelter as a stray on April 22. No one ever came to reclaim her, and no one arrived to adopt her. Fortunately, she tested negative for Parvo Virus, however she has tested positive for Giardia – a common intestinal parasite that causes diarrhea, vomiting and weight loss.
The infection is treatable and a prescription of metronidazole or fenbendazole for 7-10 days is recommended. Dogs should be separated while being treated.

According to shelter notes, the puppy is being treated with medication, and despite all that she is dealing with, she is still bright, alert and playful. The small, fragile puppy is under care, but she has no time left unless someone steps in to save her.
They just feel sick, tired, and scared in a place that is already overwhelming.
She is not a lost cause. She is a baby who needs stability, care and a chance to recover somewhere safe. Please share her plight with approved rescue organizations, friends, family and social media contacts. Time is short, and Alyssa’s time is tragically ticking away.
Medical Waiver required (upper respiratory infection)
