Over the weekend, a doodle mix was removed in what has been described as deplorable living conditions. The dog’s appearance, with his thickly matted and filthy coat, said it all.
Houston SPCA‘s Animal Cruelty Investigation team partnered with the Harris County Precinct 1 in order to rescue the two dogs.
The golden retriever mix had been suffering from a serious and extremely painful ear infection. He is under the care of veterinarians and is receiving the much needed care. The other dog required 3.8 pounds of matting shaved from his body.
Veterinarians sedated the doodle for this hour long treatment.
Thanks to the quick response of the rescue team and law enforcement partners, both dogs are now safe and on the road to recovery.
