Besides snoring seat mates, seat mates having offensive body odors or babies screaming throughout the entire flight, we can now make sure to add “man’s best friends” into the melee of rude behavior on planes.
Maybe we need to aim the rudeness on their owners?
Admittedly many dog owners indulge their adorable canines as one might treat a human child, and dogs have wiggled their special abilities of love, loyalty and devotion into their owners’ lives. Let’s be clear however; not everyone shares the same acceptable behaviors.

So let’s begin. It occurred over the weekend when a short clip had been shared on X of a small dog sitting on its owner’s tray table facing the window.
X user @TheEXECUTlONER :You know I love dogs but this [is] totally unacceptable. Dogs are supposed to remain in their carrier the entire flight….That’s just wrong. Disgusting. Don’t forget to bring wipes with you and clean off your tray tables.
While we can all close our eyes momentarily and gag at the dog’s behind on the tray table where one can work, snack or eat lunch, we also have to keep in mind parents often seat their babies (in diapers) on the tray tables too.
We’re assuming therefore that a dog’s behind was really gripe worthy. And of course, there’s always food for thought, and these people aren’t wrong.
While flying on most airlines, small dogs are supposed to be kept in the flight travel bags under the seat. Large dogs are usually required to travel in the planes cargo hold. Service dogs, however are allowed to sit on their owner’s lap or on the floor.

We don’t really know how the airline attendants handled the situation, but we have to all agree that having respect for others, and really not plopping Fido – however cute he is – on the tray table makes all of us a bit uneasy.
As for parents who plop their babies on tray tables too, perhaps they could rethink that rude behavior too?
Bottom line – make sure to wipe down your tray table.
