On Saturday, at the Stray Rescue of St. Louis, a six-pound Yorkshire terrier roaming the streets by himself arrived. A Good Samaritan had found him roaming the streets. Sometimes words aren’t enough to present an accurate description, so check out his initial video when he first arrived.

If you heard the words “poor baby” – yes, the folks in the background were referring to this 14-year-old pup whose past had to have been hellish.

He has been named Spike, and he is about 14-years-old. No one knows how long Spike had been on his own, but his matted coat, his irritated skin and his knuckles on his front limbs have healing wounds from dragging; all indicating he has been suffering far too long.
Spike is safe now, and even though the staff has described him as a bit grumpy, wouldn’t we all feel that way if that cruelty and neglect had been our past?

He must be so angry, frustrated, and broken hearted. Man’s best friend should not be treated this way.
Spike has been bathed, groomed, trimmed and examined. You can see the difference in his eyes already. Today he is settling into his foster home.

His golden years will be beautiful, we just know it.
And Spike is just one important reason to donate to Stray Rescue of St. Louis. These rescuers are the best; they have the biggest hearts and an endless supply of compassion and love.
We will be updating Spike’s journey.
