In Colonial Heights, Virginia, Lemon had been “found” at Publix. She was discovered still wearing her harness and leash, and someone had shaved her before they apparently abandoned her.
On April 29, the Colonial Heights Animal Control answered the call to rescue her.

This dog was found in the Publix parking lot on the Boulevard in Colonial Heights.

Poor Lemon was suffering from severe matting, along with painful yeast infections in her armpits, underbelly and ears.
Lemon’s family was never located, and it’s fairly certain, an irresponsible owner abandoned her. Instead of callously abandoning a living, sentient animal, think first. There are so many kinder and viable alternatives. Why not contact shelters, rescue organizations and ask social media to help? Abandoning an animal is against the law.

After a week of antibiotics, medicated baths and lots of care and love from the staff, Lemon started feeling so much better; and someone very special had been paying attention to her plight the entire time.
A gentleman called daily to check on her progress and came to visit her to see how she connected with him. It was obvious right away that he had completely fallen in love with her. The morning her stray hold was officially up, he was waiting at the gate ready to bring her home.
Everyone is quite certain this sweet girl will never experience abandonment again. She is clearly headed for a life full of love, comfort, spoiling and happiness with her new family.
We are beyond thrilled for Lemon and wish her the wonderful life she always deserved. Thank you so much for adopting and giving this precious girl her second chance.
