Hearts break trying so hard to rescue young cattle dog on brink of losing his life

Meet this young Australian cattle dog mix named Axe; he was brought into the Animal Care Services in San Antonio, Texas just a week ago as a stray. Rescuers are heartbroken, trying desperately to find help for him due to the severe overcrowding at the shelter.

Axe suffers from severe demodex and needs help now. Just a few days ago, he had been sharing a kennel with a young, frightened Lab mix named Goldie; she has since been adopted, but Axe still remains in the same kennel.

His eyes reflect a silent plea for rescue, a desperate hope for a second chance. Axe doesn’t deserve to die simply because there isn’t enough room.

As with Goldie, when Axe arrived at the shelter, he also had been heavily infested with ticks. It is not known why the effective medication to kill the ticks and make the dogs more comfortable has not been administered, however the photo of Axe has likely not been updated. At this time, we can only hope he is receiving treatment and feeling better.
