If you have ever met a Jack Russell, then surely you know how cheerful, devoted and loving these little dogs are. Be careful though, these intelligent and very inquisitive pooches are extremely stubborn and “willful” when it comes to their independence.

Meet two-year-old Ellbie. On April 25, she had to be rescued by a team of professionals after finding herself stranded on the 13th floor balcony ledge in Dee Why, Sydney, where she lived with her family.

On Saturday, Ellbie went missing after her curiosity obviously led her to squeezing through a narrow gap on the balcony. For two days her family searched for her. When her owner heard barking, they tried to free her, but there was a problem; the dog was firmly wedged into the small opening.

Fire and rescue teams arrived, they assembled a rope pulley and carefully descended from the roof of the building to free the dog and carry her to safety.

So how did Ellbie do? After her two day, very public ordeal as people gathered from all over to watch the daring rescue, the pup was scared and dehydrated, but other than that she was fine.

Oh Ellbie …. check out her rescue:
