UPDATE: Pet sitter videoed beating dog charged with animal cruelty

In Warren, Michigan, a pet sitter in Macomb County faces charges for two misdemeanors for striking a dog that had escaped her care.

The dog named Frankie accidently escaped from the pet sitter, and in an attempt to get the dog back inside her vehicle, the woman kicked and struck the dog repeatedly in the face. The disturbing incident was caught on video.

Last weekend, the Scanner of Warren Facebook page posted the video showing the woman hitting and kicking the dog that had been cowering in fear next to a car. The May 10, 2026 incident quickly went viral showing the dog snapping at her, and the pet sitter screaming towards a child for the leash. Then, she struck the dog again.

Frankie, a six-year-old pit bull blend was not injured and has been reunited with his owner.

On May 19, Samantha Koss, 28, was arraigned on Animal Cruelty to one animal and a dog. She was granted a $5,000 personal bond and ordered not to have contact with pets.
