The widely posted video incident appeared to have started when a six-year-old pit bull blend named Frankie snapped at the pet sitter. The sitter screamed at a child nearby to bring her the dog’s leash. The woman can be seen hitting and kicking the dog.

Fortunately, Frankie was not injured and has been reunited with his owner. The dog’s owner, Bobbie Brody stated she had previously used the same person four times in the past and had found her on Rover.com with good reviews. Brody returned home from her trip early after the video had been sent to her from a friend, and it was posted on social media.

The Warren Police Department and Warren Animal Control are aware of this situation and are investigating. The pet sitter has not been publicly named as the investigation continues.
The Rover app released the following statement following the incident:
At Rover, safety is a top priority and we take any reports or concerns of animal mistreatment or abuse extremely seriously. While this stay was not booked on our platform, limiting the information we were able to gather about this incident, our 24/7 Trust & Safety team conducted a thorough investigation with the information available to us as soon as these allegations were brought to our attention. We immediately worked to remove any other pets booked through Rover from the sitter’s care. The account of the sitter involved has been deactivated and we have reached out to the pet parent to offer our support.
Updates will be provided as information is provided.
