In Scott County, Kentucky, our hearts break for a sweet dog left outside in the rain on Thursday by her owner, who then contacted the Scott County Animal Care & Control reporting her as a stray. The first time officers responded, they could not find her. The second time, officers were told the dog had been hiding in the bushes, and that’s where she was found – soaking wet and very frightened.

Millie was obviously owned, and it is so sad she was left out in the rain to fend for herself because someone didn’t want her anymore.

… unfortunately, this does happen often. We have people who bring in animals and claim they are strays and then we find out they were actually the owner. As for Millie, we had dealt with Millie in the past…I guess the owner forgot about that… Plus, she has pics of Millie on her social media.

We are only here to help and care for the animals. We will not ostracize someone who has to give up a pet. We just ask for people to be honest with us so we can try to find the pet a home that will be a perfect fit.

Millie is microchipped, and her past indicates she had been adopted from the Hardin County Animal Shelter in 2018. Two years ago she was given to someone who then gave poor Millie to another person. Sadly, Millie had been both passed around repeatedly and then abandoned.

Millie is seven-years-old and weighs 40 pounds. She deserves better. She is now available for adoption and if you would like to meet her, stop by or go to the website for an adoption application.

We’re rooting for you Millie. Please share her story and photos with friends, family and social media contacts. This gal deserves better.
