Alissa and Blaire are sisters and have made quite the journey in search of their loving homes. The two 10-week-old puppies were found abandoned on the side of the road in Guam with their siblings. These two pups came to the Kitsap Humane Society in Washington through the organization’s transfer program.

Boonie Flight Project and the transfer team have provided the opportunities for these two exciting new beginnings. The puppies have two completely different personalities. Alissa is the smallest of the two but has the biggest personality and a passion for playtime. Blaire is a puppy who loves to snuggle and is a laid-back youngster.

The puppies would do best if adopted separately according to the Kitsap Humane Society:

Kitsap Humane Society It is generally our practice to not adopt puppy littermates together due to exactly what you’ve shared! Several types of behaviors, including overattachment to littermate, fear, anxiety, aggression, etc.- generally called littermate syndrome, can be detrimental to a puppy’s development. We want to ensure every pet’s success in their future homes. We hope this helps!

Adopting puppies together can cause a lot of behavioral issues because of littermate syndrome. A lot of people don’t know about littermate syndrome but it is a real problem and why most ethical breeders and rescues strongly suggest against getting a new puppy until your current dog is already an adult.
