Weeks ago, a California wildlife rescue agency was told that there was an injured bobcat in the Truckee area. By nature, bobcats are elusive, so finding and helping the feline proved to be difficult. But finally, the cat’s exhaustion led him to a woman’s barn and she reached out to Lake Tahoe Wildlife Care for help.

The agency said:

“we got a call from a woman who had found the Bobcat in her barn. He was so thin, with no energy and therefore was easily rescued.”

An exam revealed that the cat had a broken leg, a healing pelvis injury, and he was emaciated, weighing in at just over 10 pounds rather than a healthy weight of 30 to 45 pounds. The bobcat was in need of emergency surgery and a veterinary team was put together to assist. The wildlife organization thanked the doctors involved:

Dr. Kidd along with Dr. Sheets, Eliza & Kassie (LTWC animal care techs) preformed a successful surgery!
We are thrilled that the surgery was successful and are optimistic about the road ahead but we understand it’s going to be a long one.

Now, the rescuers need to find a way to keep the bobcat quiet and calm for the next 10 weeks – a daunting task. But he is a survivor and has a team of compassionate rescuers eager to help.

The agency said:

He is a fighter! Even with major leg injuries and being extremely under weight this guy keeps fighting to survive! He won’t give up and neither will we!
Don’t worry buddy little do you know but you have an amazing group of wildlife heroes cheering you on!
