Rescuers in Las Vegas, Nevada, have expressed sadness and anger following the heartbreaking discovery of a dead dog who was recently abandoned in a metal crate. As reported by KTNV News, the female Shar-Pei appeared to have been starved and neglected before being discarded alongside a road in an area where trash is dumped.
This week, the Vegas Pet Rescue Project lashed out at backyard breeders, who are believed to be behind the dog dumping:
Please help us stop backyard breeders selling puppies online and animal abusers. Share so we can find the people who did this to the baby. AND STOP BUYING YOUR PUPPIES ONLINE!!! THIS IS WHAT HAPPENS TO THE MOTHERS.
The local animal control agency confirmed that the dead dog had produced at least one litter of puppies before dying and being abandoned. Animal welfare agencies in the area are disgusted that unwanted pets are starved and abandoned, rather than being surrendered to shelters or rescue agencies.
The local authorities are investigating this cruelty case to see who is responsible.
