At the Fort Worth Animal Care & Control, a six-year-old German shepherd is scheduled to be euthanized on Thursday unless someone can save her. Bailie was found as a stray on May 3, and one month later stopped eating. The 49-pound dog has since lost eight pounds, yet she has not exhibited any symptoms of any upper respiratory infection.
“She became very sick on 6/3. Lost 8 pounds since intake. She stopped eating, very depressed, severely emaciated, lethargic and had diarrhea at one point. No signs of upper respiratory infection.
The shelter has done everything they can, and it’s not fair to keep her alive and suffering. She needs immediate vet care and diagnostics from a full service vet,” a shelter volunteer posted on social media hoping to find a rescue organization willing to help with Bailie’s emergency.
An updated note indicates Bailie is receiving x-rays this morning.
Animal advocates have pledged more than $800 to be paid to an approved rescue organization for the dog’s care.
