Rescued: 2nd chances rescue

Jersey is a male Cockapoo and Maltese blend. The little muppet is so frightened he ran to the corner of his kennel cage while trembling and hiding his face at the same time. When he arrived at the Devore Animal Shelter in San Bernadino County, California, the staff labeled him as “rescue only.” Sadly the little dog had no idea his fate could so easily be sealed. No one ever told him, he had to act sweet and cooperative after having obviously been neglected for a long period of time.  Animal advocate and shelter volunteer Andrea Neyses met Jersey on Tuesday, and now pleads his case:

“I WANT SOMEONE TO HELP ME ” Jersey is special at Devore Shelter, can’t be seen. Jersey is going to change someone’s world, please help him? Jersey is rescue only; listed as aggressive?,” Andrea began after sitting and watching the little dog.

But then the little dog seemed to understand; kindness can be a self-rewarding benefit in the tragic world of animal neglect and cruelty.

“This guy reached out under the kennel as I started to leave: a sign?,” questioned Andrea as she posted Jersey’s video on her social media page. “I petted his head and paws and talked a minute: never once did he growl. Staff is going to try and spend some time with  him. I believe Jersey is a good dog who’s only afraid ….”

If someone would give him a good grooming I think he’d easily find a home. Poor baby, I’d adopt him just as he is!!!

  2. Pamela Bolton says:

I would love to have him. I have taken a completely feral cat and she lets me pet her now. Would love to work with him and show him not all HUMANS are bad. Bet he is beautiful under all that hair.

Every body is scared shit of devore. The Most notorious kill factory in the united states. Give him a chance.Get this poor thing into NY. Trust Me, He would be adopted enroute. He would be adopted by someone who will cry with him. Tears of Joy.

How utterly wrong and unreasonable to label this baby for being afraid of the unknown!! We are all afraid of the unknown, how about giving him a little time!!! I’d bet my last breath this dog is not aggressive and is most likely a little sweetheart! I’m completely sickened by this!!! It’s a immoral dirty rotten sin what this shelter is doing to this poor dog!! Does anyone know of a Maltese Rescue that can be contacted? If I had the financial ability to take on a fourth dog I would find a way to California from Ohio to take him! But wait he is Rescue only… wrong and so unfair!!! PLEASE PLEASE SOMEONE SAVE THIS FUR BABY PLEASE!!!!!!! OMG

What do these shelters expect a terrified animal to act like? Because he is scared they want to evaluate him as ‘unadoptable’ which he most certainly is NOT – give these animals a chance to adjust to a new and scary environment – he needs time AND a haircut – Devore seems way to anxious to put him down and make no effort to help him find a new home. Jersey is just another victim of a so called ‘shelter’ than is nothing more than a death row for dogs – PLEASE someone get him out of there – Devore is way to willing to end his life.

I review Pinterest everyday and the amount of shelter dogs neglect or abuse in USA is not acceptable. Same time we all around the world are trying to save dogs from slaughter in Asia where they eat them. Each State in U S A should improve and correct their law to protect animals from people who are having mental issues or just being abusing, or allowing puppy mills. This poor dog deserves much better than that. USA is one of the biggest, powerful, smart country with access to anything. Please issue petition to improve your law

      ouch!! scolded by our elders.
the U.K. who expect better from us.
      give me your recipe .
the short one because we cant figure out how to do it here fast enough.
you got me off my chair.
and so does this picture of a hopeless animal and others like her

ellen, not sure where Lidia lives, but, the US obviously is not the only country that needs stricter animal abuse laws. The UK have their concerns regarding animal abuse. Us Americans are told that the Brits are loving dog owners… aunt who lived in England states that dogs are abused as much as they are here.
