At the Santa Cruz County Animal Care & Control in Nogales, Arizona, an adorable German shepherd named Charlie, is loved by the staff and the volunteers who try their best to help the shelter dogs find loving homes.
Charlie is the kind of dog who looks at you like you’re already his favorite person.
Charlie, (91482) is still a puppy; best estimates age him between six-months to one year old. He was found as a stray roaming the city streets by animal control. When discovered, he was very thin, and there was little doubt he had been scavenging for food, attention and someone to play with. Surely, he had a “person” for awhile, but had been on his own for weeks.

What’s really amazing about Charlie – he holds no grudges and loves everyone he meets.
The staff describes Charlie as very friendly, gentle and eager to be with people. He gets along fine with the other shelter dogs when out of his kennel and appears to be very social and dog-friendly. He is also quite inquisitive, intelligent and the kind of pup who wants to please.
Shelter information:
Gentle, affectionate and emotionally receptive
Responsive to handlers and loves earning treats
Sensitive to moods and body language
Would thrive with training, enrichment and structure

No doubt, Charlie is the kind of companion who would love to go for walks or even jogs. He could be that adventurous wingman you may have dreamed about or perhaps that special pup who will enjoy an afternoon on a hammock or even on the beach. Charlie can do it all; he just needs a chance to show you he wants to be your forever friend.
Charlie has been at the shelter for weeks, and he is ready to go home.
