On Tuesday evening, a heartbreaking call came into Detroit Pit Crew Rescue from Detroit Police Department’s animal advocate and hero, Office Delaney, regarding a dog he found severely injured lying amid trash and debris.

Officer Kyle Delaney is a Detroit Police Department (DPD) officer who, as of early 2026, became the department’s first officer dedicated exclusively to investigating animal cruelty cases.

When volunteers and staff arrived, they found Sutton, seemingly unable to move. He could not stand or walk on his own, and his body temperature was dangerously low. Detroit Pit Crew Rescue immediately agreed to take over his care.

With the help of the Detroit Animal Care & Control officers on scene, Sutton was rushed to an emergency veterinary hospital for life-saving treatment. When he arrived, he was weak and lethargic and was quickly admitted to the hospital. Nevertheless, this amazing little dog never stopped wagging his tail in gratitude as the medical team provided him with tender, emergency care.

Today, Sutton remains at the hospital, and although his prognosis is considered guarded, it is hoped he will be able to survive the neglect and cruelty that has been his life so far.

The team will also be working with authorities to make sure Sutton gets justice.

Please donate towards Sutton’s medical bills, which are currently estimated to be around $4,000.00. Donations can be made by going to Detroitpitcrew.com or through their CashApp account $Detroitpitcrew.
