At the Fort Worth Animal Care & Control – North Animal Campus, Bear’s future is hanging by a thread. Because Bear has not been adopted or rescued, and he’s still fearful, the overcrowded shelter has listed the three-year-old German shepherd on the humane euthanasia list for Monday.
Bear has been at the shelter since November 20, and arrived as a stray after he was picked up by the local animal control at 8613 Geronimo Trail. (zip code 76116)
Rescuers are hoping someone will want to save his life. One volunteer offered the following heartbreaking information:

Bear is stuck in a place he does not know, and it has him scared. He does not want to approach you, but wants to hide and not be seen. Not only is he full of fear, this poor boy has skin issues that make him uncomfortable. If you feel like you can help Bear… please foster for a rescue. He should not lose his life for being fearful.
BEAR — ID 59826835
3-year-old male German Shepherd, 75 lbs
Not neutered yet (the shelter will neuter for free)
Intake: 11/20/25
Heartworm negative
According to Bear’s veterinarian information via the shelter, the dog initially arrived growling out of fear. Now he has been slowly improving, although he is still scared. Bear also suffers from skin issues the shelter can not provide, and he will need additional veterinarian care upon release.
