Heartbreaking: Kiki had such a hopeful face but she didn’t get adopted

Spread the love

At the Humane Society of Broward County, one of the staff all time favorites, Kiki, has not been adopted. The sweetest and friendliest 10-year-old black and white Labrador retriever blend was so hopeful after appearing on local television as the featured dog of the week, but no one came.

Kiki’s heartbroken; of course we’re not about to give up helping.

Oh Kiki 🥺💔

“Even after her appearance on television, no one came in to adopt our sweet senior Kiki.”

Kiki arrived at the shelter through no fault of her own. Her elderly owner was no longer able to care for her because of an injury, and it broke both her owner and Kiki’s hearts. This kindhearted senior is described as sweet and gentle and loves to be near kind people. She is housetrained and appears to do well with other animals. She loves people – both big and small.

Kiki would love to find a foster home for now. She is just so sad at the rescue.

And here’s a little more about her – from one of the amazing volunteers:

“It doesn’t get much cuter than this! Meet Kiki, the 10-year-young sweetheart who just wants a cozy spot in the sun and a family to love!☀️🐾

She’s an incredibly friendly pup who gets along with kids, cats, and other dogs. Her previous owner shared that she’s quiet, doesn’t bark, and enjoys car rides. She’s also potty-trained! While she would benefit from a little exercise and a healthy diet to keep her feeling her best, she still has so much love to give.”

Senior dogs are often overlooked and have a much more difficult time finding homes compared to younger dogs. Many people prefer puppies because of their perceived longer lifespan, higher energy levels and the desire to raise a dog from a puppy.

But we want to highlight the advantages of adopting a senior. They are calmer, have established habits and very apt to be loyal. They don’t chew up your new shoes, most love walks and car rides and are more than pleased to cuddle up on the couch with you and watch a Netflix movie without any criticism.

Please share Kiki’s story with friends, family and social media contacts. She’s ready to give you all the love she has stored up in those 46 pounds of “adorableness.”

Please write to us if you do adopt Kiki. We would love to do her follow up story and highlight her new life.
