A beautiful and described as “sweet” five-year-old German shepherd named Daisy, watches every person who passes by her kennel at the Maricopa County Animal Care & Control in Mesa, Arizona. She had been surrendered by her family with another dog. She has no idea what she could have done to be left behind; there is just no way to explain to Daisy that she’s a great dog; it was her family who disappointed her.
daisy isn’t loud. she isn’t aggressive. She isn’t broken. she’s just …forgotten.
Sadly, Daisy has been at the shelter for more than a month. She caresses a torn, purple stuffed toy. She is spayed, five-years old and patiently waits for someone to stop in front of her kennel; maybe offer her some scratches and soft words and fall in love with her.

And as if being in a shelter couldn’t get much worse, for Daisy it did. Shortly after she arrived, she developed a persistent respiratory ailment and had to be placed on urgent medical care. Had she not shown improvement, the shelter had been considering humane euthanasia. She has since been feeling better and is described a “vibrant and playful 5-year-old German shepherd mix.. She has a joyful spirit and loves to play with toys, especially tennis balls.”
The shelter has provided the following information:
Breed: Brown/Black German Shepherd Mix
Weight: 60 lbs
Age: 5 years, 1 month
Sex: Female
Behavioral Notes:
- Daisy is high-energy and loves to play.
- She is easy to handle, both when being leashed and returned to her kennel.
- Daisy pulls on the leash, so some leash work is recommended.
- She enjoys attention.
- She is good with other dogs.
- Her previous owner said she is good with kids.
