Meet Cheeto; she has been at Brooklyn’s New York City Animal Care Center since December 21, 2023 and desperately needs to find a good home before tomorrow when her life has been scheduled to end.

This delightful, smiling five-year-old mixed breed girl arrived at the shelter as an underweight stray. According to shelter notes, during intake Cheeto allowed all handling, was very friendly as well as “high energy.” She is very social, leans in for affection and is extremely food oriented. (why wouldn’t she be since she was starving when she entered the shelter?)

During her evaluation, Cheeto was “too focused on the treat bag to greet the helper dog.” She doesn’t seem to be housetrained and will need work and patience. More information here.

ENERGY LEVEL: We have no history on Cheeto so we cannot be certain of his behavior in a home environment. However, he will need daily mental and physical activity to keep him engaged and exercised. We recommend long-lasting chews, food puzzles, and hide-and-seek games, in additional to physical exercise, to positively direct his energy and enthusiasm.

BEHAVIOR DETERMINATION: Level 3

Recommendations: No children (under 13)

Recommendations comments: No children (under 13): Due to Cheeto’s social hyperarousal, we recommend he goes to an adult-only home.

Please share Cheeto’s plight with approved rescue organizations, friends, family and social media contacts. Sharing saves lives.
