It happened in Australia, and the harrowing video posted on social media Instagram showed a young girl swinging an eight-foot long python around as she frantically tried to rescue her pet guinea pig about to be devoured by the reptile. Obviously, not on Rosie’s watch!

According to Australian radio host, Kip Wightman, the video he posted of his niece saving her pet, quickly went viral.

Rosie Wightman, 12, had been outdoors in the backyard when she suddenly spotted a large snake about to eat her pet guinea pig, MaxiBon. Without hesitation, Rosie grabbed the snake and started to swing it around, hoping to loosen the snake’s grip on her pet. Fortunately, her father had been close by, and heard her daughter screaming and ran to her aid. Together they were able to free Maxi-Bon.

The youngster was able to free her pet and tossed the python into the garden of her next door’s neighbor. The python later slithered away.

Now that’s one brave and spunky little girl!

  1. Very smart girl!!! I am so glad she didn’t lose her pet. I hope next time she plays with her pet outside, there will be a safer set up. It’s not only snakes that go after small mammals. Birds of prey also go after small mammals…….
