At the Pennsylvania SPCA in Philadelphia, eight years ago, Max had been adopted as an adorable puppy.

Sadly, his family had unexpected issues and were forced to return Max to the shelter. The dog was reportedly so frightened, heartbroken and confused, he refused to eat. In an attempt to help Max find a new family, a TikTok video was posted.

Here’s where it started:

His story and his video were so heartbreaking, the clip went viral, garnering more than 2.3 million views.

And the news has warmed out hearts. It had been someone from Max’s past life who recognized him on the video at the shelter. She wanted to reconnect with Max, and she was eager to give the dog a new home where he could once again feel safe and loved.
