This beautiful German shepherd named Cooper had been scheduled for euthanasia on September 15; somehow the City of San Bernardino Animal Services missed her, and she’s still alive. A shelter volunteer caught this amazing photo of the one-year-old dog begging for her life and who undoubtedly wants to live.
The volunteer writes:
there must be a reason she escaped the needle. Sometimes if they have a long list, they run out of time. let’s hope it slipped their notice that they missed her.

“SHE is HUNGRY and guards her food – call it SURVIVAL INSTINCT. FRIENDLY with staff. FRIENDLY with FOURTEEN OTHER DOGS in the yard. Staff say no issues with handling her. LOOK at HER LITTLE FACE. NOW ON BORROWED TIME. CAN BE KILLED ANY MOMENT. COOPER was in playgroup today with trainer Kimie McAllister and volunteer Dawn Cummings and she was FUN and DOG SOCIAL; listed as a female, tri color, Shepherd mix of about a year old, who came into the shelter as a stray on 9/2/23 and weighs 43.6 lbs. SHE NEEDS YOUR HELP NOW.”
