In a heartwarming story about a puppy named Auburn and how she now has a home with Buffalo Fire Department Engine 19, has gone viral. And for all the right reasons!

According to the Facebook page for the Buffalo Fire Department, Auburn had been brought to the the Engine 19 station by two teenagers who saw the puppy get hit by a car. Fireman Anthony Pulvino immediately helped the puppy who presented with a badly injured leg.

The men treated Auburn for road rash and cleaned up her cuts and bruises, but knew that her leg needed more care than they could provide. They placed her in a box and transported her to the Orchard Park Veterinary Medical Center for further treatment.

Anthony Pulvino rescued Auburn after she was dropped off at Engine 19. She arrived to the fire house in bad shape and had to have her leg amputated . FF Pulvino named her Auburn because they had a first in fire on Auburn and West shortly after she arrived at the fire house. She is now living her best life with FF Pulvino taking long walks, jumping around and loving her new home.

It had been Anthony Pulvino who said he had made a special connection with Auburn and left his contact information with the veterinary hospital just in case no one came to claim the puppy.

On the Facebook page, Helmets and Hose Wagons, Auburn’s photos were posted explaining she had undergone the surgical amputation of her leg and she would be going to her forever home soon. And yes, that forever home turned out to be with Pulvino, who has wanted a dog for the longest time – and here she was!

Auburn was named after location of a recent fire the Engine 19 team had recently responded, and this delightful pup is living her best life – and what a happy girl she is!

Many thanks to the awesome heroes of Engine 19.
