UPDATE: Oso was humanely euthanized on Monday because he was suffering. Rest in peace little angel.

In Baldwin Park, California, an 18-year-old Pomeranian mix named Oso is very confused and depressed. On March 28, his owners surrendered him to the Baldwin Park Animal Care Center because they no longer had time for him.

For 18 years, Oso had been part of a family, and seemingly when he was young and healthy, he was welcomed, but growing old is rarely kind, and it is sad that Oso will never understand why he was abandoned by the only people he likely ever knew.

Medical notes on Oso:

Vision impaired. (most likely Oso is blind because he is bumping into the wall and the cage.)Oso has some sensitivity on the back of his body ( I am sure he is experiencing pain – back, spine and back legs ) Oso is walking and even wagging his tail. Oso was panting but you can see this on his intake pic.

Per Shelter:

Oso is under evaluation. FRIENDLY Now i am sure Oso has dental disease and he will most likely need full dental care. I don’t know if Oso can hear or he has a heart disease since I don’t have his medical notes. Videos and more photos were added in comments

  1. Most animal lovers would be very happy with an 18 year old companion as we want our precious little treasures with us for as long as possible…..

What kind of POS dumps an 18 year old dog at the pound??? Cruel and disgusting behavior!!! The POSs who dumped Oso have reserved space in the hottest part of Hell waiting for them where they will burn forever for their cruelty…….

I hope someone local can open their heart and home for Oso. He deserves a loving furever family who will treat him as a beloved family member for the rest of his life!!!

    • Per Facebook l, Oso was euthanized within 1 hour of being surrendered.

      It’s tragic…… he never had a chance……..

Oso, I know that you are absolutely in Heaven. Please look for MacKitty and join his wonderful snuggle buddies group and RIP amongst loving friends…….

  2. Just shameful! If this family had ever loved this dog they would have put him down (the kinder thing to do) then throw him away in a shelter where he’s blind and has no idea what’s happened to him. And then the shelter couldn’t even give the old man a bed or even a blanket! I hate it when the very old, blind and deaf dogs are abused this way! I bet this dog wasn’t even theirs but belong to a older parent that has passed away.
