A kitten is lucky to be alive after someone tortured her and then abandoned her in a cat carrier that was left on the exit 10 off-ramp of Interstate 26 in Tennessee. As reported by WCTI 12 News, last week a good Samaritan noticed the discarded cat carrier and decided to stop.

It was Anna Stanton and her mother who decided to investigate further after seeing the carrier…when they approached, they could see a blanket, blood, and fur. Their initial assumption is that whatever was inside was no longer alive…but Anna wanted to make sure, so she waited. Inside of the carrier was a badly abused kitten who moved slightly, and made a small meow as if crying for help.

The sound prompted Anna and her mother to spring into action, picking up the carrier and rushing the kitten to Ketron Pet Clinic in Blountville. The duo had not looked inside before getting to the veterinary hospital. When they finally looked, they were horrified. The gray kitten had superglue in her nose and mouth and her paws had been taped together. It was so bad that the veterinary staff working on her was moved to tears.

Amazingly, one week later the kitten is doing well. The veterinarian was able to get the glue out of her nose and mouth and she is living with her rescuer, who has named her Gravy.

Gravy is living with Anna, and another cat named Biscuit. People who donated to a fundraiser (click here) helped little Gravy get the care that she needed and brighter days are ahead.

Stanton is hopeful that someone will provide information about who is responsible for hurting Gravy. Anyone with information is asked to reach out to the Washington County, Tennessee Sheriff’s Department or animal control.
