A dog with bite wounds around his neck and face walked into an animal shelter in South Africa seeking help for his injuries. According to the Cape of Good Hope Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) in Cape Town, a black Labrador retriever arrived at the shelter unaccompanied as if waiting for someone to help.

Rio walked into the SPCA premises by himself as staff were busy closing and preparing to leave for the weekend. He sniffed his way to the animal hospital where he was greeted by Inspector Alexia Linsell and the Chief Executive Officer, Moyo Ndukwana who approached with a tine of treats and secured him with a leash.

Rio was then treated for his wounds with antibiotics, and has since made a full recovery. Sadly, no one has come to the shelter to claim him. He will be made available for adoption and is waiting for a new family to call his own.

Rio is extremely friendly and sweet, and will sure to be a wonderful family addition for someone searching for their new best friend.
