The Wayne County Humane Society in Wooster, Ohio uses social media to educate, inform, and connect with the local community including anyone interested in helping, volunteering or adopting. Aside from the dedicated staff members of the animal welfare organization, their volunteers contribute an immense amount of support as well.
Meet Joe Kay who lives in Wooster and whose social media account brings the plight of so many dogs in need of homes to the front of our hearts. His TikTok account @adoptingdogs is filled with short clips of lots of congratulatory adoption stories, but the ones still waiting so often just brings us to tears.
One short video soon went viral after Kay posted it showing two bonded seniors recently surrendered by their owners.
A pair of bonded seniors were surrendered to the shelter today. Just the thought of them waiting for their owner to come back. I don’t know how much more my heart can take.
Look at these two! We could never give them up no matter what.

There are just so many advantages to adopting seniors – they are usually housetrained, they don’t chew shoes, and they have an understanding of quite extensive vocabularies. And when you come home one evening – just all disgusted with the world, you get to see that happy face wagging his tail and eager to listen to your woes of the day and kiss your troubles away. Doesn’t that slight tilt of his head as if he understands everything and if he could, would make your life perfect, just fill your heart with love?
