Update: Family dog left alone for the weekend to fend for herself suffers terrible accident

In rural South Texas where dogs often run loose, a frantic plea went out from an animal advocate and local rescuer, Leslie Ysuhuaylas for help. While the dog’s owners went away for the weekend, they left their spaniel named Arcadia outdoors to fend for herself. Suddenly, the young dog’s future was caught in a desperate life or death situation when she suffered a terrible accident:

“Dog was hit by a car three hours ago,” stated Leslie on her Facebook page on Friday afternoon after being notified by a frantic witness. “Finder has been waiting with the dog for help to arrive! Her eye is popping out and ripped in half, ribs crushed and her leg is dislocated! These are the only visible damages. People were suggesting to shoot her to put her out of misery, but she needs a chance if she can get to the vet! The only vet open right now is two hours away…”

Without a second thought the young dog’s owners had driven away. Sadly, the dog wandered out into the highway and was struck by an automobile. The witness described the disturbing event:

“Arcadia went flying into the air about five feet after the hit and landed on the ground unable to move with her eye popping out.
For three hours Arcadia waited for help, and finally we were able to move her to the emergency vet in the middle of the night, whereby she was stabilized as she was in shock. X-rays were taken which showed that Arcadia had a broken pelvis and her eye was obviously out of its socket.”

Had it not been for Leslie and all the animal supporters and advocates calling in donations and offers to help, Arcadia never would have stood a chance. That night the dog was transported to an emergency veterinarian in McAllen; surgery to remove her eye was performed the next day. Still in shock, Arcadia was kept comfortable on pain medication awaiting more tests.

Without any hesitation, Rescue Dogs Rock NYC stepped up to help. Stacey Silverstein, co-founder of the organization, stated in addition to the surgery performed to remove her eye, her broken pelvis will need to be repaired with a possible complicated orthopedic surgery. Arcadia is now scheduled to be transported to New York City where she will be evaluated by an orthopedic surgeon.

Maybe Arcadia had been trying to follow her family when they left her behind? Her owners never came forward even though notices were left at the owners’ home and people knocked on their door to let them know what had happened to their puppy. They just didn’t care, however plans had already been made behind the scenes just in case the irresponsible owners wanted the dog returned.  Arcadia is now officially in the custody of Rescue Dogs Rock NYC.

They obviously didn’t care. I’m sure it was done on purpose. They probably were hoping the dog would have been long gone when they got back home.

Glad they don’t take care of me if that is the extent of their concern for their family member. NOBODY IN THEIR RIGHT MIND would leave their pet outside to fend for themselves while they went out and had a good time. REALLY??? Another sub-human on the loose.

I don;t know what in the world we would ever do without Rescue Dogs Rock NYC. This poor dog wouldn’t have gotten help and wouldn’t be alive today. The irresponsible owners are disgusting, leaving their dog alone to fend for herself while they went away for the weekend. They shouldn’t get her back even if they wanted her, they should however be held responsible for animal abuse and abandonment. Prayers for this precious girl, This breaks my heart that someone can do this to their pet!

Omg, I hope this poor little pup is never return to the original owner. It is obvious they are not responsible owners. That was such a cruel think to do, to just take off without any responsibility . Wishing them nightmares for the rest of their lives with no peace in their heart, mind and soul. Prayers for yhe pup to hsbe a good recovery and a,better loving home.

What the hell does Trump have to do with it? Ya think he was driving the car? You think liberals are all animal lovers, well think again. Your hero Hitlery said the famous words “get that fucking dog out of here” to the soldier that had his bomb sniffing dog in her room to insure her safety when she was in Turkey!

Trump doesn’t currently and probably never has had a pet ( dog) or any other type of animal in his life time. We can all be sure the carpets and foyers are free of dog hair, pee, prints …. I did ( although I am a democrat ) for Trump … I sure as hell didn’t know till after that he was not an animal lover!! I knew H. Clinton was not a lover of animals . Look at how many Presidents had pets in the White House… I am a strong believer that owing and caring and loving unconditionally is 80% of the makeup of a person’s whole personality… Trump is an example. I have a friend that never let her son own a pet and now at 17 this puke is just that a puke!! he has NO and I mean NO sensitivity , compassion, Just like our leader…

Jill I agree. I’m not a fan of Trump’s. He’s not to blame. Lets put the blame on dog owners in every state that abuses their dogs and not make it a presidential red/blue state. David Thomas take off those blinders and realize who are really responsible for abusing these animals.

Once again Texas proves what a lousy state is actually is for animal welfare. Those owners who left Arcadia to roam and could have cared less about her – what a bunch of ignorant idiots they proved themselves to be. And of course, Rescue Dogs Rock NYC came thru for an animal in desperate need of medical attention. Those piss poor examples of owners SHOULD be held responsible for Arcadia’s medical care and charged w/animal neglect and cruelty – O excuse me, this is Texas where animals don’t matter.

Once again Texas with its huge amount of stray dogs. RDR of NY has come to the rescue once again. A NY facility taking care of Texas dogs. The Governor of Texas needs to deal with this horrible situation along with dealing with hurricane Harvey. There will be more strays or owners who discard their dogs like trash to add to what the State also has to deal with.

Adrienne, News flash, there are many rescue groups in Texas also! There are just as many animal lovers in Texas as there are in any other state & we do the best we can. Houston did have a very liberal mayor at one time that made big promises of help for strays while she was running for reelection, but once she got back in, those campaign promises were totally forgotten.

I honestly would have probably shot the dog if I found one in that condition. It’s awesome that she got medical attention and is recovering, but I would have been overwhelmed at her condition and would have killed her.

Yes, plagiarism and the theft of intellectual property is an ongoing problem. It is best to file DMCA violations and/or use an attorney to force the offenders to credit the authors, remove the stolen material and institute a law suit if they don’t comply. It doesn’t take much to credit someone else’s work, and it is the honorable way to work.
