At the Escambia County Department of Animal Welfare, a dog named Chopper had a number of officers to thank for his recent life endangering dilemma. Chopper hasn’t told anyone how he managed to get trapped six-feet down in what used to be a cellar underneath a 100-year-old house, but all’s well that ends well.

Chopper’s odyssey occurred towards the end of last week in Pensacola, Florida when the animal welfare department received a call from a local resident who stated he could hear a dog in distress stuck beneath the old house. Officers arrived at the scene and spotted 65-pound Chopper trapped, and within minutes, the specially trained crew were able to rescue the dog unharmed.

Chopper had been missing for three days from his home; that meant no food or water, but this very fortunate pup was reunited with his family at the scene and everyone was ecstatic – including Chopper we must add.

Huge shoutout to Sergeant Eddins, Sergeant Roberson and Officer Semenovich on this win. Job well done!
