In Carleton, Michigan, a dog who had his head caught in a plastic container of cheese balls for at least three days, was rescued over the weekend. Nicknamed “Cheeto” because of his obvious dilemma, the friendly pup is now recovering at The Last Stop Animal Rescue and Sanctuary.

this pup’s been on the run; we don’t know how long, but we know he’s had the jug on his head for three days. He was probably right down to the wire.

No one knows where Cheeto’s family is, but the Great Pyrenees and German shepherd mix is approximately two years old and acts a bit timid. He is very underweight and does not have a microchip nor was he wearing a collar.

Tom Walsh videoed the efforts he and the community used to save Cheeto, and when the dog was finally captured, volunteers and local residents were extremely relieved.

Plastic container boy has been secured!! ❤️

Around 8:00 a.m. We received the “jackpot sighting” from Evonne who lives off Noreen- We needed this so desperately!!! I was able to get to the area immediately, of course he was already gone. As I gathered information from the homeowner, I looked up & I saw him trotting along the wood-line behind Margret Ln. properties.

I noticed his direction of travel & hide behind a shed. As he passed by , I snuck up behind him to snappy snare! Thank God it worked!

The rescue will be hosting a fundraiser on October 24 at Sneaky’s Sports Bar & Grill. Proceeds will benefit the rescue in order to cover pet food, vaccinations and veterinarian costs.

If Cheeto’s owners are not found, he will be available for adoption once he is cleared and healthy. For more information, please click here.
