Meet Jasper; a young pup who had been shot and then abandoned in the Sherwood Forest neighborhood of El Portal, Florida. He is recovering and doing well because a Good Samaritan found him and stepped up to be his rescuer.

According to Channel 7 News, Jasper had been found limping and in pain on December 29, by a kind woman named Edna. The dog was so small and helpless, there had been no way Edna wasn’t going to render the help he needed.

I saw something moving down the street. That was my initial thought, that he had gotten out and was hit by a car, but of course, when I got closer, and I smelled him, I realized that he’d been out for a long time. He was filthy,

With the help of Homeward Bound Animal Rescue, Edna was able to bring Jasper to a veterinarian hospital where X-rays revealed the dog had been shot in the leg.

Unfortunately, Jasper had shrapnel lodged in the bone, and there was no other choice but to amputate his leg.

Needless to say, Jasper is one lucky pooch and is currently recovering. One family has already stepped up and offered to adopt him. He’s healing well, although a little disoriented. He has taken a few steps in the house and yard and even tried to use the stairs. Bandages come off this Friday.
