In a heartbreaking discovery by Beaumont Animal Care on December 16, a mother dog and her puppies were found abandoned in a crate. They had been thrown away next to a dumpster. The shelter had been seeking rescue assistance; ThisIsHouston stepped up without hesitation.

When discovered the mother dog, named Joy, had an entire litter of puppies, but by the time they were found, all but one puppy had died. Baby Jingle was hanging on by a thread. Jingle’s short life had been filled with heartbreak. He had spent his first 13 days of life locked in a urine and feces filled crate; his eight siblings dying one by one. His tiny body was covered with urine burns, and he had been suffering from seizures.

At arrival Joy weighed 25 pounds and arrived in such poor condition, she was not able to produce milk for her last surviving puppy. Her skin had been also covered in urine scalding burns. Besides being emaciated, she suffered from pyometra and a constantly tucked tail.

Yet, despite all that Joy had endured, the shelter staff stated she remained very sweet and loving.

And here we are; just a little over a month and both are healthy and looking for their forever homes. From the beginning, Joy has been very sweet. She loves her foster pup friends as well as the humans. She adores children.

And of course, there’s Jingle. This little two-month-old potato of cuteness continues to grow strong and has been learning how to play with others. He also loves to cuddle.

The two have been separated but both foster moms are planning a reunion for this week. Both mom and puppy will have no trouble having separate homes.
Momma can be transported out of state, but baby must stay local to Texas since he’s unaltered and won’t be until he reaches 6 months of age.
