Remember this little five-pound cutie? This tiny Yorkshire terrier had been left in a soaking wet cardboard box outside the Wake County Animal Center last week. Because he needed so much specialized care, he was transferred to the care of Perfectly Imperfect Pups. The group named the dog “Benji.”

Benji was missing one of his front legs. He had been left in the cardboard box overnight and when found had been shivering from the cold.
The tiny pup had barely been able to move; his front right leg had already been amputated, and his back leg was shattered, He struggled just to sit up and move around. When found, he had been covered in his own waste because his movement was limited.

According to the rescue’s director, Nicole Kincaid, the only way to help Benji was surgery. It is believed the expensive medical costs from his broken leg may have been why his owners abandoned him in front of an animal shelter, hoping someone would take care of him. Of course, it’s not the way to surrender a dog, and what could have happened to Benji is unthinkable.
The resilient Yorkie is described as having a “heart of gold.” He is doing well and would love to be in a home where he can be spoiled and loved.
Just in case that little face isn’t charming enough to capture your heart, here’s some more of Benji’s qualities to help you make the decision to fall in love and make this little angel your best friend.

Benji is:
-Sweet, gentle, and gives the softest kisses
-Makes the most hilarious little sounds – his alert “bark” is a squeaky hiccup!
-NOT the stereotype of a “yappy” little dog.
-Sleeps peacefully in his crate overnight (just a short protest at first)
-Gets along beautifully with other dogs – currently fostered with a Doberman and a Shih Tzu!
-LOVES cuddles – he melts into your lap for comfort
Benji is two-years-old and is up to date on his vaccinations. His adoption fee is $325. You can apply to adopt Benji online.
