In Cleveland, Texas in the area of Colony Ridge, volunteers venture out daily to feed the stray dogs no one wants. These are the dogs who are invisible to most people, the dogs whose owners have abandoned them, the dogs who are unwanted because they cost too much to feed, and the dogs who have been neglected and abused.
On Wednesday, dog feeder volunteer, Zully Vasquez Ventura spotted a dog lying in the middle of a street. The cars swerved to avoid him, but it would only be a matter of time before he would be struck and probably killed.

He’s not doing well, that’s why he is not even trying to get up when cars pass by. He has an injured front leg … very infected. He has an old broken back leg that healed very badly …
In addition, Zully noted the bigger stray dogs in the area wouldn’t let this boy eat and had been bullying him.
what a life this poor benji dog has to live. No wonder he is so depressed waiting to be run over.
Zully reached out on social media asking for help. She said she wished the hot concrete road could be replaced by a cozy sofa. She worried about his safety. She asked for readers and viewers to share the dog’s plight; he needed a local foster home and a reputable rescue organization.
This morning Zully’s wish came true. ThisIsHouston stepped forward and volunteered to help. His name is Sawyer, and earlier today he was being transported to Vergi 24/7 Emergency Veterinarian Hospital.
His name is Sawyer and he is on his way to Vergi, he might be running a fever because the infection going on the front paw! Thank you so so much to ThisIsHouston for offering to save Sawyer’s life, sawyer is so deserving of a new life away from the streets! Thank you.
