In Langford, South Dakota, a Great Pyrenees mix named Max was definitely open to the idea of getting up late in the night to have a snack. Just days ago, someone had given Max a burrito from an area store, and he sure did like it. He liked it so much – he decided to have another one and knew exactly where to go.

Meet four-year-old Max who escaped from his home on June 1 and walked nearly five miles by himself, mind you, to arrive at a convenience store for a breakfast burrito. The dog’s amazing trek began at 11:39 p.m., and it took him two hours to reach his destination via the shortest route – across the fields.

When Max arrived at the store, it wasn’t open yet, but that didn’t quell his enthusiasm nor the anticipation of a tasty treat, so he waited for hours. He didn’t get his burrito that day, but his family was able to track his location via his GPS dog tracker collar.

Max’s owners – Sara and Nathan Olsen, now feed Max a breakfast burrito to discourage him from going to the store unsupervised.
