In October 2024, Louie arrived at the Saving Huey Foundation in terrible condition. He would have easily frozen to death on the streets if not for the intervention of devoted rescuers.

Louie was rushed to the organization’s partner veterinarian and tested for contagious diseases. Blood work was ordered, and the little guy received a bed and a blanket; probably for the first time in his life he could remember. His emaciated little body would slowly be nourished.
Louie suffered from Demodex mange as well as Ehrlichia. He was also severely anemic, so much so, that it was truly amazing he survived on the streets. For more than a week, Louie remained hospitalized and on medication.

Louie’s healing began. One month later, the five year old pup was starting to feel better. For the most part, Louie remained shy and kept to himself. He needed extra time to adjust to his new surroundings and the good life his incredible foster parents provided for him.

Check out Louie’s progress:
And here we are – seven months later, and Louie looks absolutely amazing, thanks to the time, patience and love of the dog’s foster parents Yuya and Julio. Many thanks also to everyone who donated for Louie’s medica needs.
Louie will make a wonderful companion for one lucky person (or family). He is fully healed and vetted. He is currently in California with an amazing rescue.
