A tiny survivor, most likely an abandoned pet, had been spotted by several people at Fisherman’s Retreat in San Timoteo Canyon in Redlands, California. He had been there for two days, but no one seemed to have taken any interest in helping him.

How the little dog made it over the hill to the few homes in the canyon is a mystery. How he survived the trek is even more of a mystery. The area is extremely dangerous; at night wildlife abounds, and it’s not unusual for mountain lions, bears and coyotes all scavenging the area for prey.
Who would ever have thought a tiny dog, terribly matted and frightened, who had been reported running for days, would have survived even one night – no less four nights in the treacherous outdoors?

And there he was – an obviously abandoned little dog running for his life. When the little dog spotted a house, he ran up to the porch, but the people didn’t do anything to help him. The scared little guy just sat there, waiting and hoping someone would help him.

Fortunately, a kind woman wanted to help. She knew he would not survive much longer outdoors on his own, but could not bring him into her home because her cat tried to attack the dog.

The rescue of the dog turned out to be a nail biting search in the canyon area, and it was animal advocate and rescuer Faith Easdale, who answered the call.

(Hard to believe a small dog could survive in this environment on his own)

And finally, he was safe:
…But a kind woman named Rita was very worried knowing his days were numbered reached out for help
He’s in terrible shape
I spent quite awhile getting the stickers off his face till he fell asleep standing up
I cannot believe anyone with a soul would drop animals off to die
He’s safe with me for the moment
We will be looking for a foster
He isn’t neutered
No chip
Thank you to everyone who helps us
Down to the bowls. I just used for him
You make this possible.
On Monday, he will go to the groomers and the veterinarian for a physical and his vaccinations.

So the woman who said she couldn’t help him because her cat would scratch him: She ought to be ashamed of herself for not doing anything. She could have put it in her bathroom and close the door while seeking for a rescue. If that was impossible, then her car. Truly heartbreaking to hear about this poor little angel. Thank God she eventually got rescued. I’m sure the dog was relieved!
I agree… heartless. not a true animal lover.
