Just three days ago, Pennsylvania SPCA, Animal Law Enforcement officers met a rather lifeless Australian cattle dog named Brutus. The poor pup had white gums, had been covered with fleas, and his frail legs could barely support his weight and keep him standing. His little body had been failing him, however rescuers were not willing to give up.
It had been on October 4 when Brutus met the people who were ready to give this sweet guy a second chance and a new life.
When our Animal Law Enforcement officers arrived on the scene, Brutus’ former owner said that he should be put down.
Brutus was immediately transferred to the Pennsylvania’s SPCA hospital where his lifesaving treatment began. He was very underweight, dehydrated, and suffering from untreated Lyme disease. He was severely anemic and needed an urgent blood transfusion.
Brutus’ weary body began to come back to life, and with it, his spirit. With each passing hour, a light began to shine in his eyes again – and so did hope. The treatments were working, however his journey is not over yet.
Brutus will remain in the hospital and receive ongoing medical care until cleared by the medical team.

But with hope lies possibilities. And the possibility of a new life is right in front of him.
No matter how hard the past, you can always begin again.
With each small step, and each gentle tail wag, Brutus is on his way to a better life.
After suffering so much, it’s all he deserves.
Brutus is already looking much better and he will join so many other adorable dogs at the shelter waiting to be adopted.
