No one cared to save neglected 10 year old shepherd until rescuers stepped up

Late last week there had been no one stepping in for Simba, a ten-year-old German shepherd at BARC shelter in Houston, Texas. On April 18, the shelter had Simba scheduled for humane euthanasia at 1:00; once a dog was on the list at BARC, they rarely changed their minds.

Simba had not had a kind life; she entered the shelter in rough shape after she had been picked up wandering the streets and scavenging for food. There she was – starving, alone and had no hopes of anyone coming to her aid. From the people she saw and those of whom walked by her, not one person reached out to help with either a friendly word or a bowl of food.

Rescuers from Trina & Friends K-9 Rescue, a (501c3) is an all volunteer organization dedicated to rescuing and providing care for homeless shelter dogs in need. Founded upon their love and admiration for German Shepherds, Trina & Friends work to help sick and injured dogs as well as rehabilitate abused and neglected dogs with emotional or behavioral issues.

They couldn’t let Simba lose her life in a shelter and stepped in immediately.

Trina is heartworm positive (high) and is undergoing medical care. Treatment is expensive, but she deserves a chance to finally know safety, love and a full belly.

In Simba’s latest update, although she is not out of the woods yet, she has shown some improvement. More bloodwork has been done to better identify any significant health problems. On the positive side, her potassium levels have improved.

Please keep praying for our girl, she so deserves this. Please continue to donate towards her care, she’s been through hell and we need your help.

She is currently at Houston Veterinary, Dr. Miller is amazing along with his team.

Please help us help Simba any donation makes a difference.
