‘Perfect’ German shepherd longest resident at shelter and in danger of being put to sleep

How can this be?

At the Stockton Shelter in California, Bear is described as a happy, young pup who loves to bounce and play. He loves affection, loves to have fun and acts silly so many times, but keeps everyone around him smiling. He doesn’t seem to be a fan of fetching or chasing toys, however he loves “to hang out and give lots of kisses.”

And according to Bear, there is nothing like a hearty belly rub, and if he thinks there’s a possibility of a good rub, will lie down and turn over on his back.

His advocate has the following to report:

He is in doggie playgroups with playful dogs. We suspect he will be OK with mannerly children keeping in mind his size. this boy is active, young and adventures and would love a home with another playful dog in it. He will make any family a new best friend for life!
