At the Carson Animal Care Center, the staff has reached out to the rescue community for assistance with a four-year-old German shepherd who has been at the shelter since February 9, 2022 and needs specialized veterinary care the shelter is unable to provide.

His name is Alfred (A5532965) and this beautiful dog entered the shelter as a lost dog. He is currently available for adoption by an approved rescue with an agreement to provide him with the treatment he needs. He has been diagnosed as having a fracture of the forelimb, and although there has been some improvement in a follow-up radiograph, Alfred is suffering from an unresolved URI. He is not responding to various antibiotics, and his clinical signs are worsening. According to the veterinarians at the shelter, however Alfred has a reasonable chance of a full recovery if he can find placement in a non-shelter environment to recover.

Adoption information:

#A5532965 My name is ALFRED and I’m an approximately 6 year old male German Shepherd. I am already neutered. I have been at the Carson Animal Care Center since 2/9. I will be available on 2/12. You can visit me at my temporary home at C105.

He was seen to be favoring his right front limb. He was sent for x-rays of his limbs and according to the private veterinarian he has a fractured right front limb. A splint had been placed on his right front limb. He has been on a pain medication and antibiotics. Some fractures are able to heal with splinting and some would benefit from surgery, and a licensed veterinarian would be able to make that decision.
