Shelter’s longest resident has had zero applications in 7 months

A shelter in South Bend, Indiana, is hoping that someone will find it in their heart to give their facility’s longest resident a home. Three-year-old Hector has been at the South Bend Animal Resouce Center since November 2021, and during his time there, not one person has applied to adopt him.

The shelter writes:

I’m Hector. I am 3 years old. I’m the longest resident here. I have been here since November 21. I have a sensitive tummy and can’t have a lot of treats and I need a consistent diet. I am non-reactive when walking past other dogs kennels. I am not getting depressed here and I am not shutting down, which speaks volumes about my behavior, but because I have been here so long..This saddens me. I have been on the news multiple times. In these past 7 months I have not received any applications. 0.

According to shelter staff, Hector keeps his kennel clean and enjoys playing with toys and going on walks with volunteers. Hector has been receiving training and already knows several commands.
