An intoxicated dog walker was arrested by the police in South San Francisco, California, after multiple dogs in distress were found inside a truck parked on a hot day in late June. As reported by NBC Bay Area, the authorities were called out to the area by people concerned about a dog inside of a parked van. While responding to the dog in distress call, a truck in the area collided with a parked car.

Sgt. Elena Dominguez-Brennan of SSFPD told the news agency that the man in the truck initially refused to exit the vehicle, and after he did, it was determined that he was intoxicated. While the police investigated the 32-year-old driver’s vehicle, they found eight crated dogs in the back of his truck. Sgt. Brennan said:

“While investigating that incident, they discovered eight dogs in a camper shell attached to the back of his truck, one of the dogs was in severe distress. The elements were way too dangerous for any animal to be in a vehicle without proper circulation or ventilation.”
