Just a sweet dog left tied to a lamp post asking for someone to love me before the shelter ends my life

Meet Willow; this sweet boy was abandoned and left tied to a lamp post. Police officers on patrol in the Bronx found him, and as they untied him, Willow leaped with joy – just loving all the attention offered,

After arriving at the shelter, Willow allowed all handling while wiggling his butt the entire time of his initial evaluation. Because he arrived at the Brooklyn shelter for the New York Animal Care Centers emaciated, he was sent to a foster home to recuperate, but the family returned him to the shelter because the resident cat became stressed, and it likely was that Willow and the kitty had never been properly introduced.

It reminds me of the cute little puppy in the window that someone had to have, until they didn’t.

And so here we have it – Willow has never been leash trained, doesn’t understand that jumping around and frolicking while being prepared for a walk is not proper behavior, nor do hands of humans belong to him. This boy is just filled with happiness, and time and patience will help him learn how to become a desirable and well-behaved canine citizen.

He is a crowd favorite – greeting everyone with smiles, love and a heart full of exuberance as if he hasn’t seen you in years! This is what I’d love to come home each and every day after a long day at work! Willow loves his toys and can be a bit of a self-entertainer with them, but even better if you make it a game for two.

The problem however – Willow has no adoption offers and is not reserved. He is scheduled to be euthanized at any time.

Hello, my name is Willow. My animal id is #157981.

I am a male brown dog at the Manhattan Animal Care Center.

The shelter thinks I am about 5 years 1 months 2 weeks old.

Weight: 65 lbs

I came into the shelter as a agency on 11/7/2022. Tied up in the Bronx.

Willow is on emergency placement for behavioral reasons. He has displayed high kennel stress, jumping up, barking, vocalizing, and later grabbing his leash on walks. Medically, he has periodontal disease.
