The Knoxville Police Department’s Animal Control is seeking the identity of the owner of a terribly neglected dog abandoned behind a dumpster at an apartment complex in the 4900 block of Jenkins Road on Saturday morning. The dog was discovered in a black and white pet carrier.

According to the Knoxville Police, the dog was discovered in the morning and showed serious signs of serious neglect with itchy, infected sores over his body. The terrier or poodle mix was transported to the Young-Williams Animal Center for an examination and life-saving medical treatment.

Authorities want pet owners unable to care for their pets and cannot provide appropriate care to reach out to the Knoxville Animal Control Unit. Don’t abandon your pets – they have the right to be properly cared for and not neglected for any reason.

Anyone with information about this dog is asked to contact Animal Control at 865.215.8639.
